Imagination is a wonderful thing,
Extra, extra the young vendor would sing.
Standing on the corner come rain or shine
The headline sung out and often in rhyme.
More shocking and gory the more he’d sell
Best that sells is when banged up in a cell!
Bloody images that force you to buy
Emotions that cause you to laugh or to cry.
He relies on the extra, your image of gore
To conjure the story and want to read more.
Read all about it, he calls you to join,
You delve for your pennies, silver and coin.
Hidden below that shows bright in the dark
Good news at the end of a tunnel so stark.
This image is seldom seen in the press
It just doesn’t sell, no more and no less.
Are you ever asked to go that extra bit?
To do something extra than to accept it?
We’re often pressed to go the extra mile
So, accept it or not, but of course with a smile.
The choice for an extra is ours not theirs
Turn away from the dark and others affairs.
In the tunnel of twilight look for the light,
Go that extra mile if it makes your life bright.
This is your moment in each precious day
Make the most of what’s given having your say
Live every moment as if it’s your last
Whether you choose just to gorge or to fast!
You know what is best, to laugh and to jest
Causing no harm you can work or just rest
The extra is yours no one else’s to choose
Making happy your choice, you cannot lose.
Nothing’s ever done, there is no wrong or right!
At the crossroads of life, head to north and to right.
You know the formula, you know the way …
Head for the light, let extra come your way!
