Something from the kitchen: as I say, when times was hard and I had just been made redundant for the second time, we had just a small tin of tomatoes in the cupboard, a little rice and a few pieces of quick macaroni with 4 chipolata sausages in the fridge and a small piece of mouldy cheddar.
Twist the sausages in half, grill, snip into 8 and place in an oven proof bowl.
Chop the tinned tomatoes, add a few herbs of choice, salt and pepper to taste, bring to the boil and add to the bowl.
Meanwhile cook the rice with a little turmeric or curry powder and a tiny shake of salt and when nearly done add the macaroni and re boil for 6 minutes. Strain and place over the rest of the ingredients.
Cut the mould off the cheese, grate over the rest and bake in a hot oven for about 15 minutes. Or just grill if still warm inside.

It made the 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 children, a delicious supper dish.
