It is said that in order to look forward we need to see where we are coming from:
NEW YORK (AP) — Richard Leakey predicts scepticism over evolution will soon be history. Not that the avowed atheist has any doubts himself. Sometime in the next 15 to 30 years, the Kenyan-born palaeoanthropologist expects scientific discoveries will have accelerated to the point that, “even the sceptics can accept it.”
“If you get to the stage where you can persuade people on the evidence, that it’s solid, that we are all African, that colour is superficial, that stages of development of culture are all interactive,” Leakey says, “then I think we have a chance of a world that will respond better to global challenges.”
Notwithstanding Richard Leakey’s lack of faith in a deity, lets look back in our own non scientific, but perhaps no-less appropriate, way at the remote past. In the beginning when life first emerged in it’s simplest forms on a young and fast evolving planet, where would have been the best place to incubate new species of life ? In the frozen poles ? I think not, but you must agree, somewhere warm and cosy with adequate water to drink, with many species of animal and plant life to share the space of evolution could be like a huge garden somewhere warm 365 days a year. Wouldn’t you say ?
How does equatorial Africa stack up ? I would say it fits the bill perfectly. Wouldn’t you ? Now, that area has been a pretty constant breeding ground throughout the varied and fascinating history of this planet that has seen more species come and go in its multimillion year history than exist on the planet right now.
If you subscribe to Darwin, as I do, you will be aware of the theory of natural selection. However, since just about every record of indigenous species in the world mentions the descent of superior beings to help them in various ways I am also prepared to believe that the superiority of humankind was assured by the introduction of just one gene, from our superior cousins, that gave us Soul consciousness. (Biblically: Angels sleeping with the daughters of men ?)
Because in the process of natural selection we came up the ladder of evolution along with all the rest and so for a long time we were creatures of instinct before our brains were large enough to accommodate the projected mass and capability as exemplified by the Law of One. Sadly we have out-scienced our original natural brain power and decided as a race to leave in limbo 90% of our mental capacity. But I digress. Even though we had the help of our cousins !
Are we daft or what ?
So, how many of our cousins do you think it took over what period of time to the many areas of the earth, to allow generations to carry the gene and evolve, accounting for the many different cranial forms that are now on record of the different species of Homo erectus, Homo sapiens and all in between, and incidentally all around the same time as that special gene took time to work its way through the race ?
What happened to our cousins ?
Well do you think they could survive for long on our dense planet ?
Back to the present: Hallelujah ! The gene has been isolated and they’ve given it the name HARG1. The problem, as I see it now, is that Darwin goes out the window as we descend into the unnatural arena of un-natural selection. In fact as soon as we started to mess about with the DNA spirals of animals and plants we parted company with nature and we were already on the thin ice of impending disaster.
And another thing: Each time man has tried to replicate a medicinal compound found in nature he has missed out some vital ingredient found in the natural plant. The gifts that we know about are a fraction of what has been provided, that need no refinement and are there for the benefit of mankind. Why do we still worship Science and try so hard to improve on perfection? Our cousins knew there was only one way to aid evolution and that was by natural fertilisation by the prescribed manner according to the species.
They practised the virtue of PATIENCE !
If only. If only. If I had the choice of returning in another life I would choose to return to a remote tribe, not in Africa now since I would probably get shot at an early age, but in the Amazon, the furthest away from ‘Big Pharma’ and the guns of Rwanda !
(But for how long I guess ?)
You know its all been tried before. You may wish to believe that science has progressed in technique and accomplishment in a linear line, but much of what we are heading for now has already been done in the ancient world. It did not work then and the civilisations died out as a result. Lord bless us. God help us.
So the next time you are asked, ‘ Where are you from ?’ What will your answer be ? More importantly perhaps, ‘Where are we going ?’ Needs an answer.
